C'mon baby!!

‘Twas the night before the due date, and we continue to wait,

Here’s hoping you arrive tomorrow and you aren’t late.

Mommy scrubbed the floors on her hands and knees,

In hopes that would kick-start the “hoo, hoo, hees.”

Daddy watched the Bears kick the Lions booty,

But he’s ready to hop in the car…he’s on ‘chauffer to the hospital’ duty.

You keep nudging my insides and moving here and there,

So c’mon out…we’re ready…don’t despair!

November 14 seems like a good day for a birthday,

Whatdya say?

As I crawl into bed the night before you’re due.

I think to myself, “I can’t wait to meet you!”

Baby, we’re ready when you are!

Love, Mommy

double digits

Well now it's really getting close. I missed the '100 days to go' mark. That was on Saturday. I had it in my brain...but my brain hasn't been functioning anywhere near perfect these days.

98 days to go! And while I'm not freaking out, we should probably finish the nursery before Ryan runs off to coach football for the next 12 Saturdays.

Here we are at 26 weeks!

24 weeks

I had my glucose test today. Here's hoping the results come back

After my doctor's appointment today, they scheduled my "next few appointments" aka ALL the appointments until AFTER my due date. That's right, I have an appointment scheduled on November 15. The receptionist said, "Don't worry, if you don't need that appointment, we'll cancel it for you." (Baby WiKS, please make it so they have to cancel that last one!)

That made it really real...seeing the next few months plotted out as a list of appointments and weeks and doctors.

November will be here before we know it!

happy 4th of july!

next year, we'll be celebrating baby's first independence day.

I thought a lot today about my independence days growing up. I remember wanting to wear a red, white and blue outfit every year. I'm pretty sure there were a few years where I even color-coordinated my socks. I remember making sugar cookies with my mom and my sister and decorating them in red, white and blue icing, then meticulously laying them into the pan to look like a flag. (and I remember the blue tongue I had from eating said icing during the decorating process.) I remember crown point parades and lots of candy and "I love a parade!" and fireworks at the fairgrounds.

I can't wait to start traditions with this little baby.

how does something so little need so much?

we made our way to Babies R Us yesterday.

WOW!

not only is there a lot to think about, there are A LOT of choices! do you get an audio monitor or a video monitor? a pack-n-play with music or without? and let's not even discuss strollers! those things are massive...and they cost more than a montly law school loan payment!

but Ryan has the babybjorn figured out. I, however, still think you need a Ph. D. in order to figure out the 87 straps.

we head to the doctor in the morning for our 20 week appointment and sonogram!

movement

It's official! I've been feeling Baby WiKS moving the last few days, and it's so...weird!

When chatting with my dad yesterday, he wanted to know if we've got a soccer player in there like its mommy, or a football player like its daddy. I'm not quite sure yet, but whatever "it" is, its certainly moving around a lot!

Next week is the 20-week ultrasound! But until we get the pictures from that photo shoot, here's a picture at 19 weeks. Enjoy!

I just ate 3 PB&J sandwiches

On old school wheat bread

All I wanted for dinner was a PB&J sandwich. But not just any PB&J sandwich. I wanted Skippy peanut butter (none of the 'natural' stuff we've got in the house) and some old school bread. Not the 12 grain whole wheat stuff we usually eat. But the Wonder bread type...

Much to Ryan's chagrin, this happens a lot lately. I run to the store and pick up one or two things that I really want to eat. And nothing else.

A few weeks ago, I came home with FOUR bags of Trader Joe's BBQ Chicken Teriyaki.

Anyway, I went and picked up the goods and just inhaled 3 sandwiches. And they were amazing. So I guess yes, I have "cravings." None of those pickle-and-ice-cream cravings...but all of a sudden, I just want a specific something.

The upside? At least I'm eating again.
