24 weeks

I had my glucose test today. Here's hoping the results come back

After my doctor's appointment today, they scheduled my "next few appointments" aka ALL the appointments until AFTER my due date. That's right, I have an appointment scheduled on November 15. The receptionist said, "Don't worry, if you don't need that appointment, we'll cancel it for you." (Baby WiKS, please make it so they have to cancel that last one!)

That made it really real...seeing the next few months plotted out as a list of appointments and weeks and doctors.

November will be here before we know it!

happy 4th of july!

next year, we'll be celebrating baby's first independence day.

I thought a lot today about my independence days growing up. I remember wanting to wear a red, white and blue outfit every year. I'm pretty sure there were a few years where I even color-coordinated my socks. I remember making sugar cookies with my mom and my sister and decorating them in red, white and blue icing, then meticulously laying them into the pan to look like a flag. (and I remember the blue tongue I had from eating said icing during the decorating process.) I remember crown point parades and lots of candy and "I love a parade!" and fireworks at the fairgrounds.

I can't wait to start traditions with this little baby.

how does something so little need so much?

we made our way to Babies R Us yesterday.

WOW!

not only is there a lot to think about, there are A LOT of choices! do you get an audio monitor or a video monitor? a pack-n-play with music or without? and let's not even discuss strollers! those things are massive...and they cost more than a montly law school loan payment!

but Ryan has the babybjorn figured out. I, however, still think you need a Ph. D. in order to figure out the 87 straps.

we head to the doctor in the morning for our 20 week appointment and sonogram!

movement

It's official! I've been feeling Baby WiKS moving the last few days, and it's so...weird!

When chatting with my dad yesterday, he wanted to know if we've got a soccer player in there like its mommy, or a football player like its daddy. I'm not quite sure yet, but whatever "it" is, its certainly moving around a lot!

Next week is the 20-week ultrasound! But until we get the pictures from that photo shoot, here's a picture at 19 weeks. Enjoy!

I just ate 3 PB&J sandwiches

On old school wheat bread

All I wanted for dinner was a PB&J sandwich. But not just any PB&J sandwich. I wanted Skippy peanut butter (none of the 'natural' stuff we've got in the house) and some old school bread. Not the 12 grain whole wheat stuff we usually eat. But the Wonder bread type...

Much to Ryan's chagrin, this happens a lot lately. I run to the store and pick up one or two things that I really want to eat. And nothing else.

A few weeks ago, I came home with FOUR bags of Trader Joe's BBQ Chicken Teriyaki.

Anyway, I went and picked up the goods and just inhaled 3 sandwiches. And they were amazing. So I guess yes, I have "cravings." None of those pickle-and-ice-cream cravings...but all of a sudden, I just want a specific something.

The upside? At least I'm eating again.

one year ago. how time flies...
on a friday night one year ago, my best friend and I were on our way to a lifetime of happiness. while things didn't go as planned that friday, there are moments I will never forget. walking to whole foods with my mother and sister to pick up flowers. my soon-to-be husband and wonderful brother-in-law scrubbing the hell out of umbrellas to make our big day special. friends and family from near and far coming to our new city/home to celebrate with us.
after months of planning, I was getting ready to marry ryan, and I couldn't have been happier.
so here we are, one year later.
bliss.

a few of my favorite shots from the rehearsal...
best surprise! cookies all the way from Minnesota with our monogram.
the patrick clan. are they ready to add one more?
best parents in the whole world.

true love.

around the house.

we've been busy at château patrick, trying to fill the house with furniture. (slowly but surely, much to ryan's chagrin. I have an idea of how I want things to look...you get the idea.) first up, find a mantel for less than the $1,000 people on Craigslist think they can sell these things for and turn it into a headboard. after much searching and multiple follow ups, success!

ready for some sanding. ryan got to bust out the power tools, so he didn't mind this weekend project.

a few coats of white paint, and we're in business.

supervisor bailey.

all done!

while searching for the mantel on craigslist, I came across someone selling old factory carts. having seen these before at restoration hardware for a cool $1,300, the $300 "real" version on craigslist seemed like a bargain! my mission, to convince ryan this would look cool. he finally said sure, and long story short, I was in york, pa this weekend picking up our cart.

all the way from indiana! a little piece of the midwest, right in our living room.

my most favorite part. and ryan wants to paint them?! stay tuned for how this disagreement turns out...
ps - for my 3 readers out there, if you haven't checked it out yet, you should. ryan's blog:
hilarious.
